Now that travel restrictions are starting to ease and more and more people are getting vaccinated, it may be time to consider getting out of town. Read on to learn more about the benefits of "switching off" now and then.

Lower Stress

Stress and physical and psychological health are all interconnected. That’s why removing yourself from activities and environments that you typically associate with stress can be restorative. Physical stress can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, decreased immune defenses, stomach and sleep problems. Psychological stress can lead to irritability, depression and anxiety. Whereas, good physical and mental health leads to increased resiliency which strengthens your coping abilities. Don’t let chronic stress overwhelm you, take a break!

Expand Your Horizons

Studies show that taking trips and gaining new experiences makes you happier. Trips can also get you outside of your comfort zone, which leads to personal growth and development. Not only that, but you’ll be more present in the moment as you’re forced to navigate your new environment.

Improve Your Relationships

The stressors of everyday life can take a toll. Getting away allows you to focus on what’s important and spend quality time with the ones you love. You’ll learn thru play and real life experiences, deepening your bonds and building trust. You probably have several fond memories you can recall from time away spent w/family and friends. Give your loved ones the time and attention they deserve!

Stop Burnout In Its Tracks

Getting away helps ensure you’ll be less likely to suffer from burnout. You’ll return to work feeling refreshed and more focused, motivated and productive. Traveling can often spark creativity and bring new and renewed energy to your professional life. You spend a significant amount of your time at work each week, so why not make that time engaging and meaningful. Mitigate burnout by utilizing your PTO days for vacation!

I know, I know...you’re super excited to start planning a trip now. And, there’s even more good news. According to a poll conducted by The Institute for Applied Positive Research, even STARTING to plan a trip can help boost happiness and alleviate stress up to 8 weeks prior to your vacation and 5 weeks after your vacation. So what are you waiting for!?

(Don’t forget to set up your "out of office" reply on your voicemail and email before you take off and refrain from engaging in work related activities or allowing yourself to think about work)

Happy trails and don’t forget your mask!
